How to connect a Spaceship domain to Visioning Cloud Print

  • 0

To point a domain registered at Spaceship to your Visioning Cloud hosting, change its nameservers to the two below. Your domain stays registered at Spaceship; only its DNS moves to Visioning Cloud.

Nameserver 1: ns1.visioningcloud.com

Nameserver 2: ns2.visioningcloud.com

Before you start

  • Your Spaceship account login.
  • An active Visioning Cloud hosting plan with this domain added to it.
  • A list of any DNS records you added at Spaceship yourself, such as email (MX) records or Google/Microsoft verification records. These stop working after the switch and must be added again in your Visioning Cloud control panel.

Change your nameservers in Spaceship

  1. Sign in to your account at spaceship.com.
  2. From your Launchpad, open Advanced DNS and select the domain you want to connect.
  3. In the Nameservers section, click Change.
  4. In the window that opens, select Custom nameservers.
  5. Enter ns1.visioningcloud.com in the first field and ns2.visioningcloud.com in the second. Remove any extra fields so only these two remain.
  6. Spaceship may warn that existing connections, such as Spaceship hosting or email, will stop working. Click Yes, change to Custom DNS to confirm.
Good to know: your old DNS records at Spaceship are not deleted. They are marked inactive and will work again if you ever switch back to Spaceship nameservers. While you use Visioning Cloud nameservers, editing those inactive records has no effect.

How long it takes

The change usually works within a few hours but can take up to 48 hours worldwide. During this time your site may load inconsistently, and some visitors may see your old site while others see the new one. This is normal.

To check progress, enter your domain at whatsmydns.net and choose the NS record type. When the results show ns1.visioningcloud.com and ns2.visioningcloud.com, the switch is complete.

Troubleshooting

My site still shows the old page or a parking page.
The change is probably still spreading. Clear your browser cache or open a private window, and check again in a few hours.
Spaceship says the nameservers are invalid.
Check for typos, extra spaces or a trailing dot. Enter them exactly as shown above.
My email stopped working after the switch.
Your email (MX) records were stored at Spaceship and are now inactive. Add them again in your Visioning Cloud control panel.
The site shows an error or a default hosting page.
Make sure the domain is added to your Visioning Cloud hosting account and your website files are uploaded.
How do I undo the change?
In the same Nameservers section, click Change and switch back to Spaceship's default nameservers. Your inactive records become active again.

Need help?

If your domain still isn't working after 48 hours, open a support ticket from your Visioning Cloud client area. Include your domain name and a screenshot of the Nameservers section in Spaceship.
